Lent: Part 10

The Karate Kid (1984) – Mr. Miyagi is a child molester, and all it would take is some creative editing to convince the authorities. From hauling unconscious boys into his apartment, to getting them drunk on whiskey, to telling a prostrate Daniel to “close eye” then rubbing his hands vigorously, Pat Morita liked the teenagers.

    My Two Cents: Part 10

Much like the Crane Technique, this is a film so perfectly executed that there can be no defense. Assuming, of course, that you charge in headlong with your eyes closed.

I just saw this on TV the other night for the first time in years, and I have to say, it’s held up really well. It’s kind of dated and maybe a little bit treacly at times, but compared to the cinematic tripe served to the youth market these days? It’s a gem. RIP Pat Morita!

Also, where can I find an old man who’ll give me a hot car for sanding his deck? Wait, that sounded wrong . . .
