Lent: Part 14

Zodiac (2007) – Great. Thanks, movie. Now I’m afraid of animal crackers.

Job well done, though. I was scared enough by this movie that I really really didn’t want to do anything about the guy who went to see Zodiac alone and started to snore behind me.

    My Two Cents: Part 14

What’s not to love? It’s got madness, obsession, drug abuse, pedophilia, lives being lost, lives being destroyed, movies, codes, egos and yes…animal crackers. Actually with all that said, it’s kind of wierd that it also dragged a little bit in spots. But only a little.

It was almost two distinct movies; the initial crimes and investigation, then the research for the book. That was probably its only problem, but ironically made it a better movie than either of those two would have been on their own.

Yeah, I really liked the fact that it was less about the killer, and more about people’s obesession with the killer. Apparently the tagline, which I’d never heard before I saw it on IMDB is “There’s more than one way to lose your life to a serial killer.”

So, we’re going to see 300 tonight, right?

Do you wanna go to Alderwood, or to the Cinerama with Jeremy’s posse?

Well, Jeremy’s posse isn’t going until tomorrow. So if you want to go tonight, that plan’s out.

I’m fine with either tonight or tomorrow, but I’m concerned that Cinerama is just going to be grossly overcrowded and annoying, and their screen’s not actually much larger than the better rooms in the Alderwood Castle.

I’d push for Alderwood, though if you covered gas you might be able to convince me to drive to Canadia. We’d probably want more company for the ride though.

I have become very tired from staying out too late last night. I may have to sleep a bit when I get home, and we might as well just watch one of the many movies I have at home.

Then I guess it’s all a Moo Point, and we’ll figure out tomorrow tomorrow.

If you guys decide to go, we are meeting at 12:30 at the Cinirama to get tickets and grab food. Show is at 1:30

(Canadia would also have to be Saturday. I’m not heading for the border in rush hour traffic.)

We were a good ways into the movie when I heard the faint but distinct sound of snoring. Deciding I’d actually look behind me to glare at the person (instead of just squirming the whole time) I sat up and swiveled around. There was a guy sitting alone, a good five seats between him and anyone else in any direction. He had his baseball cap pulled down low on his face and was huddled down into his coat. I became confident he had a gun or was very good with a knife, and went back to squirming.

Hahah…I did not think this was scary at all. Then again, I saw it with my boyfriend who loves scary movies and facts about serial killers. As such, I knew a little about the Zodiac killer going into the movie, ie. they believe he’s dead… and I was not scared. I liked the movie though.

It was scary, but not in the usual serial killer way. I had forgotten my cursory research, and couldn’t remember if the guy was ever caught (and technically, he hasn’t). Not knowing the ending made it more tense for me, and it was a purely psychological thing. Plus, who goes to see Zodiac alone and falls asleep? Maybe someone who’s been there, done that and just wanted to see who they got to play him?
