Lent: Part 15

Julie & Julia (2009) – It is disorienting and aggravating to whip back and forth between two so different movies. The first, a saccharine romantic comedy about a shrill harpy of a woman. The second, a brilliant and charming biography of Julia Child starring a magical woman who needs another Oscar already. Amy Adams has run out of second chances with me. She’s just terrible. She had one good movie, but the rest is just hopeless crap.

My Two Cents, Year 5: Part 15

Ooo, is this the part where I get all high-and-mighty and declare that the book was better? I love that part.

    The book was better.

    Mmm…that felt good.

So did my mom. I thought she was the most obnoxious cow I’d ever seen in my life! Apparently, though, Julie Powell was waaaay misrepresented – so sez my sister’s boyfriend, who was one of her best friends in college. He even took her to the movie premiere. No word yet whether she had a meltdown when she saw how they’d portrayed her!

amy adams wasnt that bad and i still think she is cute and loveable. but let’s be honest, meryl streep was definitely the star and AMAZING in this movie! i guess it is ok that Sandra Bullock won best actress, cuz let’s be honest, when will she get another chance for that!?
